What To Expect
We have created a guide providing essential information and tips for new pet owners, covering various aspects of pet care.
Decatur Veterinary Services –
Delivered with Courtesy and Respect
As a new client of our animal hospital in Decatur, you can expect our full attention to your pets’ needs.
If this is your or your pet’s first visit to our hospital, please ensure you have filled out our New Pet Form prior to your pet’s first appointment. This form is sent directly to our Client Care Team after you click “Submit.” If your pet has a scheduled boarding reservation, please complete a Boarding Agreement Form for each pet that is coming to stay.
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted by a member of our team. Once an exam room becomes available, you will be escorted to the exam room to await the LVT or veterinary assistant. One of our veterinary technicians or assistants will obtain your pet’s medical history, current condition, and the reason for your visit, gathering data for the doctor. Once the technician or assistant has gathered all the necessary information, they will take your pet to the treatment area to obtain vitals. With the help of their pet parents, we strive to make the atmosphere as calm as possible for the patient, pet parent, and our staff.
Once our team member brings your pet back to the exam room, one of our veterinarians will examine your pet thoroughly and determine the appropriate diagnostic tests. Our veterinarian will then discuss the recommended diagnostic tests or treatments and present you with a treatment plan. Once the treatment plan is approved and the necessary tests have been run, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and potential new treatment plan if warranted. Occasionally, there are diagnostics or treatments recommended that cannot be performed at our facility. When this occurs, our doctors will provide a referral to the recommended facility that can provide these services.
This is a great time to ask questions! Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing.
Our veterinary technician or assistant will likely come back to wrap things up and will provide you with helpful pet care information and answer wellness and care questions for you. All payments are due at the time that services are rendered. Our staff will process your payment and schedule any needed follow-up exams. We accept cash, checks, all major credit cards, and CareCredit. To apply for Car Credit, click this link.
Please note: Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times when the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible.
We are excited to meet you and your animal family members.
